DAME 2010
The DAME (Design Award METS) – the most prestigious design competition for new marine equipment and accessories in the world – celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2010.
Over the past two decades, independently appointed judges have scrutinised several thousand pace-setting products in specific marine categories. All products entered will be displayed at METS & SYP (SuperYacht Pavilion) 2010. Entries are put on show in the special DAME Presentation in the Elicium together with an overview of the previous DAME Winners.
DAME 2010 supports Whisper Boat Building Academy (WBBA)
All DAME 2010 (Design Award METS) registration fees will go to the Whisper Boat Building Academy (WBBA) South Africa. The Whisper Boat Building Academy is a Public Benefit Organization based in Cape Town. The organization is aimed at uplifting and inspiring, deaf students, by providing them with skills in the Boat Building Industry. WBBA is the only boat building school for people with disabilities. These students are drawn from the Noluthando School for Deaf in Khayelitsha. The DAME money will be used to help fund development of a skills programme with learning aids suited to deaf students, and to train teachers and interpreters.

90% of stands sold for METS 2010
METS & SYP 2010 is 90% sold out months ahead of final exhibitor deadlines. “Exhibitor response has been excellent – an encouraging sign that the industry is starting to see some positive economic recovery,” says METS Senior Product Manager, Irene Dros. “We are looking forward to another vibrant and successful show that will help set the marine leisure sector back on its feet.”
